What does it mean to become a follower of Jesus Christ? Some people think they are Christians because they were born into a religious home, go to church, try to do their best, or live a moral life. However, the Bible teaches that these things cannot make you a Christian. You can become a Christian by taking these three steps.

1. Admit to God in prayer that you, along with all people, have sinned and fallen short of God's standards (Romans 3:23).
2. Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ, who was God in the flesh, died on the cross for your sins and rose from the dead (Romans 5:8).
3. Through prayer, personally transfer your trust onto Jesus Christ and believe in him to grant you the gift of eternal life (John 1:12).

"To all who receive him, to those who believe in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12).
